Quotes and invoices

Change orders on a job

Add or take out work on a job with an approved quote, get the customer's signature from a private link, and bill it on the invoice.

Write a change order

  1. Step 1: Open the job and tap New change order under Contract and change orders. The job needs an approved quote.
  2. Step 2: Give it a short name and say why the work is changing. The customer sees both.
  3. Step 3: Add work from your price book or type it. Under Work taken out, tap items from the quote or add a credit.
  4. Step 4: Set how many working days it adds, then tap Save change order. Add photos on the draft.
  • Tip: Tax follows the quote: a saved tax rate applies to the change; a typed tax amount or no tax adds none.
  • Tip: Costs and margin show only to people who can see costs. The customer never sees them.

Get it approved

  1. Step 1: Tap Send to customer to open Messages with the email and private link ready. Or use Get the customer link and open it on your phone for the customer to sign.
  2. Step 2: The customer approves by typing their name, or declines with a note. English and Spanish.
  3. Step 3: If they answered in person or by phone, tap Record answer and type who approved it.
  • Tip: Owners and managers get an alert and an email when the customer answers. Share any change order to team chat from its page.

Contract total and invoice

Approved change orders add to the job's contract total, shown on the job as the original quote, each change order and the total. Waiting and declined ones never count.

Create invoice on the approved quote puts each approved change order on the invoice as its own section. If the invoice was made first and is still a draft, tap Add to invoice on the job.

  • Tip: When a change order adds days and the job has a schedule, tap Add days on the job to put them at the end.

Who can create them
